RD Day

We celebrated RD day at Thomas Creek brewery where we drank different craft beer samples, took a brewery tour learning about how it is made, Learned about Thomas Creek business practices and marketing strategy including plans for the future, and had ice cream made by bird-dog ice cream with original flavors that specifically match some of Thomas Creek's most popular Brews. We had the largest turnout for RD day that we have ever had.

National Nutrition Month Volunteer Event

We also decided to give back for national nutrition month. In keeping with the theme of savor the flavor of eating right, we wanted to provide a meal that was tasty, affordable and well liked to a population in need of a meal. This year we partnered with Serenity Place in Greenville which is a residential facility where women who have history of drug abuse can go through their rehab program without losing their children. So the moms and children live there together. They have volunteers bringing in meals on a regular basis but they also have health education says sessions as part of their program. The moms participating in this program are very interested in prenatal nutrition, and we were able to provide and our prenatal nutrition education in addition to A meal that met my plate standards and was also 100% purchased with SNAP benefits. This demonstrated to them that once they leave their rehab they have access to healthy food and delicious recipes that they can afford for their families and help have positive prenatal nutrition status.
