Statement of purpose: What skills can I bring to SCAND for the next few years? As a Department Chair, I have learned that it is important to communicate and listen. I cannot say that has always been the case for me but over the years I have tried to master this skill. However, it is one that I am not sure anyone totally masters.
I am also level headed. We are going through many changes in our profession and I think the leadership of SCAND needs to be a leader in guiding the future of our profession. We cannot operate as we did when dietetics started in 1917 or as we did in 2007. We have to keep moving forward and I think I can help be a voice and advocate for SCAND members with the other leaders throughout AND. I love the profession of dietetics and I hope through leadership, passion and advocacy I can represent the membership of this wonderful organization such as SCAND.

Statement of purpose: Over the past 6-7 years, my involvement on boards of both the South Carolina Academy of Nutrition and Dietetic and the Charleston Trident Dietetic Association has given me the opportunity to get to know so many amazing dietitians throughout the state. I’ve met some of my closest friends, networked with colleagues and other community organizations, had speaking opportunities, and learned so much along the way. My experience has made my career so much more rewarding. I believe I am prepared to help recognize well-deserving dietitians and students and to help recruit new members to join our team as a member of the nominating committee.
