Summary:  Wondering what options are available for SC dietitians to be reimbursed for medical nutrition therapy? Wanting to get set-up to take insurance but have no idea where to start? Join us for a step-by-step "how-to" guide on becoming credentialed and enrolled as an insurance provider! We will cover basic steps from getting proper credentialing, to enrollment steps, to which insurances cover what services, and what resources are available to help you get started. This webinar will be applicable to both dietitians in private practice and those in hospitals/clinics, and will serve as a beginning resource to anyone wishing to start the process of becoming a provider. 


The attendee will be able to:

1.      Identify which payers exist for nutrition reimbursement

2.      Understand basic steps to becoming credentialed as an insurance provider

3.      Understand the process of enrolling with Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance companies

4.      Identify common codes used for nutrition reimbursement and common hurdles to getting paid

5.      Identify helpful resources available for dietitians to assist in the credentialing and enrollment process

6.      Discuss unique challenges and opportunities for SC dietitians in the realm of insurance reimbursement

About the speaker:  Jeremy received his undergraduate degree in Human Nutrition & Dietetics from Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC, in 2006 and his Master’s degree in Human Nutrition from Winthrop in 2014. Jeremy is experienced in a variety of health care settings throughout the life cycle. He has five years of experience providing inpatient clinical nutrition in almost every area including oncology, geriatrics, cardiovascular disease, trauma, ICU, med-surgery, renal, pediatrics and diabetes care. Additionally, he has worked in an outpatient setting to counsel a wide variety of clients, providing nutrition therapy for everything from food allergies and failure to thrive to obesity, heart disease and behavioral disorders. He also has extensive experience providing care for elderly residents in long-term care, and has recently expanded his pediatric services through a partnership with Sprout Pediatrics. He is the business owner and private practice dietitian of Path of Life Nutrition as well as a contract dietitian for Upstate Nutrition Consultants. Jeremy is the current reimbursement representative for South Carolina Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics
