We are currently seeking contracted RD consultant for Easley SC and Boiling Springs SC.

HTI RDs routinely provide nutritional assessment, MDS and care planning: other duties include oversight of dining services including meal rounds and kitchen inspection. Our RD’s are available to provide in-service training to Dining managers and staff. The HTI RD acts as a liaison with other members with health care team to insure high quality nutritional care is delivered. RD’s assist with policy development and monitor the implementation of effective nutritional care systems.

All consults will occur during normal business hours.

State licensure and CDR required and prefer 2 years of clinical and LTC experience.

The South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs' Whitten Center is currently seeking a Nutritionist IV in Laurens, SC.

Job responsibilities include:

1.Ensures that nutritional assessments are completed on all consumers upon admission, annually and as needed to determine nutritional needs by utilizing any assessments and medical records. Informs physicians and healthcare providers of any nutritional needs/inadequacies and makes recommendations accordingly.

2. Assesses nutritional status of consumers by evaluating subjective and objective data to develop an assessment of nutritional needs. Develops, implements and evaluates effectiveness of nutritional interventions.

3. Coordinates with the Food Service Director to ensure diet plans are developed. Plans and/or reviews menus to ensure a nutritionally balanced diet within established cost standards. Evaluates menus for proper consistency, nutritional adequacy and accuracy. Based on budget, coordinates with the Food Service Director regarding any adjustments according to dietary needs.

4. Serves as backup to the Food Service Director in their extended absence.

5. Designs and conducts in-service training programs for staff. Trains food service personnel concerning diets and diet modifications.

6. Ensures adherence to DHEC regulations as they relate to Dietary Services. 

7. Assists in developing and reviewing written procedures in cooperation with Whitten Center's internal procedures and agency directives. Reviews and revises diet manual at least every five years.

8. Coordinates with Nursing as well as Finance & Supply Director to ensure consumers are receiving Part B supplies as they relate to enteral feeding. 

9. Coordinates with the Food Service Director on changes and updates to the menu and food choices as they relate to Consumer needs and preferences.

10. Manages monthly weight charts and ensures monthly weight meeting are held.

Minimum and Additional Requirements:
Must have a bachelors degree and be a registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration and licensed or eligible to be licensed with the SC Department of LLR panel for Dietetics. Must have nutritional experience in a clinical, public health or institutional setting. Must maintain Registered and Licensed Dietitian status.

Preferred requirements:
Must have thorough knowledge of nutrition and diet therapy. Must understand specific principles involved in nutrition management and able to apply these principles in daily practice. Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing and have basic computer skills. Must be knowledgeable in assessing nutritional status of consumers and identifying nutritional needs.
