General Statement of Job 
Under limited supervision, is responsible for planning menus, special promotions, providing nutritional
information, assist in grant proposals, marketing, and community outreach. Supervises Chef Lead; reviews subordinates to ensure customer service and operational performance goals are met. Reports to the Director of Nutrition Services.

Essential Functions
Administers school nutritional programs (e.g. menu development, recipe development, nutritional analysis) to ensure compliance with all federal and state guidelines. 

Produces and maintains the monthly menus and nutritional analysis for stakeholders.

Participates in all food purchasing activities, including bid specification qualities and bid awards. Works closely with vendors/suppliers in the bidding and delivery of goods process.

Provides scientifically based nutrition expertise to Richland One schools.

Creates production records for menu cycle.

Collaborates with Chef Lead to conduct and coordinate food taste tests with students and Richland One 

Preceptor for dietetic internship program.

Coordinates meetings with vendors to obtain information regarding availability of CNP (child nutrition 
program) labeled food items and recipes that may be used to enhance the Richland One meal program.

Consults with physicians, school nurses and parents for special dietary needs.

Develops, evaluates, and delivers nutritional education training, materials, activities and resources to 
provide nutrition education to the district and community.


Bachelor’s Degree from a school accredited by The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics; up-to-date certification as Registered Dietitian by The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and 1-3 years of experience or pre-professional experience/internship in a school or other institutional or commercial setting where quantity food preparation techniques were used, or any combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

The Beaufort Jasper Hampton Comprehensive Health Services, Inc. is seeking a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. 

Position SummaryThe Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) must be registered with the Commission of Dietetic Registration and hold a South Carolina License with the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation Panel for Dietetics. The RDN will counsel patients with Medical Nutrition Therapy, Diabetes Self-Management Education, National Diabetes Prevention Program, School-Based Health Centers and perform other grant related activities including community outreach.  Assist with Diabetes Case Management Program.  Many activities are grant funded and job responsibilities will change based on grant funding.  This is a full-time position.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) 
  • Provide Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME)– Beaufort Jasper Hampton Comprehensive Health Services (BJHCHS) is an AADE Recognized site.
  • Provide National Diabetes Prevention Program(NDPP) Class which is an evidenced-based CDC curriculum.   
  • Work with the Migrant program during Migrant Season.  Provide MNT and DSME to migrant patients two nights a week during June and July.  (optional)
  • Participate in outreach activities with the migrant program and other activities such as health fairs etc. in all three counties.
  • Provide MNT at School-Based Health Centers
  • Maintain monthly statistics as needed for monthly reporting purposes as well as grant reporting purposes.
  • Direct and prepare health related articles for local newspapers and magazines.
  • Other duties as needed.

Qualifications:  Have a B.S. Degree or higher in Nutrition, Home Economics, Family and Consumer Sciences and Dietetics or related field.   The candidate must be Registered with the Commission of Dietetic Registration and hold a South Carolina License with the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation Panel for Dietetics.  Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.  Certified Diabetes Educator not mandatory, but is beneficial.
