Grand Strand Bariatric Surgery located in Myrtle Beach, SC is looking for a registered dietitian to join their bariatric team.  No prior bariatric surgery dietary experiences is required.  New graduates will be accepted and trained. This is an office-based position, weekdays only.  Flexible hours are available.

Brief Job Description: Develop and implement nutrition therapy plans for patients who are going to or have already undergone bariatric weight-loss surgery. Provide counseling services to help patients understand their changing nutritional needs, and monitor patients for signs of dietary deficiencies. You start your relationship with patients months before they are scheduled for surgery to prepare them for the eating and lifestyle changes they need to make to be successful after the procedure. One of the most important lessons you teach patients is to reduce their portion sizes from the amounts they used to eat before surgery, and reduce their carbohydrate intake. You will also be required to participate in our monthly support groups.

We are looking for a Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) to provide nutrition education and Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) for the University community, including students, faculty, and staff.

In this role you will:

  • Provide clinically appropriate nutrition education and MNT toward the collaborative management of eating disorders
  • Provide MNT for medical concerns including diabetes, hypertension, lipid disorders, food allergies/intolerances, and other medical nutrition concerns utilizing a weight-neutral approach and Health at Every Size (HAES) model
  • Provide oversight and supervision of a Nutrition Outreach Educator for our demonstration kitchen
  • Support evidence-informed nutrition training and education for patients, staff, providers, dietetic interns, peer health educators and the University community, as appropriate

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in nutrition, dietetics, nutrition education or other related area and 1 year experience in a clinical, public health or institutional setting; or a bachelor’s degree in nutrition, dietetics, community nutrition and 3 years experience. Registered Dietitian and Licensed Dietitian in South Carolina or eligible to become registered and licensed.

Preferred Qualifications: Eligibility for registration to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Knowledge and experience in working with sports nutrition, eating disorders, clinical nutrition and chronic disease management (e.g. diabetes, celiac, Crohn’s, etc.) Commitment to a weight-neutral, HAES approach.

Job Summary and Qualifications: The Dietitian will work collaboratively within the multi-disciplinary team to create desired goals and outcomes of nutritional care for patients in all practice sites.  The Dietitian is responsible for providing comprehensive assessment, care coordination services, disease education and self-management support with patients who have chronic health conditions, specifically but not limited to diabetes, hypertension, and obesity.  The Dietitian will be integrated into the office-based health care team to work in partnership to promote patient-centered care, frequent contact with primary care providers, medical home team members, and actively participate in interdisciplinary patient-centered team meetings.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nutritional Science, or related degree

Job Summary:  The Supervisory Dietitian oversees food service and production operations of a 120-bed hospital.  Supervises food service workers, cooks, and food service and production supervisors.  No cafeteria or catering responsibilities.
