SCAND Mentorship Program

Who is the program for and who can apply?

All SCAND members have the benefit of participating in the SCAND Mentorship Program. Students, Dietetic Interns, NDTR’s, and RDN’s can apply to be a Mentee. RDN’s and NDTR’s with at least 1 year of experience in your focus area and 2 years of experience as a practitioner can apply to be a Mentor.

Program Expectations: Both mentor and mentee agree to the following minimum expectations for the relationship as established by SCAND.

  • Length of match: 6 months from October to April
  • Contact time: meet once a month during the 6-month period.
  • Contact type/method: in-person or virtually using the method of technology that the mentor/mentee match agrees with.

Program Schedule:

August 17, 2026: Applications Open (both Mentor and Mentee)

September 14, 2026: Applications Close (both Mentor and Mentee)

September 28 – October 8 (Tentatively): Virtual Orientation from 6:00-7:00pm

October 1, 2026: Program starts

January TBD: 3- Month Virtual Group Check-in

April 1, 2027: Program ends

A SCAND Mentorship Coordinator will reach out on active matches at the following intervals:

  • Initial match (End of September/Early October)
  • Monthly
  • Halfway (January)
  • End of program (April)
